SCREENING OPTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Blood Health Profile -Chemistry Panel, Lipid Panel and Complete Blood Count (CBC)
    • An excellent tool for determining general health.  Includes full blood chemistry (glucose, kidney and liver function), a full lipid workup (cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides) and a blood count.
  • Hemoglobin (A1C)
    • This test measures average blood sugar levels for the past 3-months.  This is not a screening for diabetes, but a useful monitor for persons who are under treatment for diabetes.
  • Lipoprotein (a)
    • Studies show that individuals with high lipoprotein (a) levels are prone to early heart disease.  Lipoproteins are believed to contribute to the formation of blood clots.
  • PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen, Males Only)
    • This test in combination with a doctor’s digital rectal examination is useful in alerting men to the possible presence of prostate cancer and other prostate abnormalities.
  • Sensitive CRP (C-Reactive Protein)
    • This test measures CRP protein produced in liver and muscle cells within the coronary arteries.  Elevated CRP indicates a higher incidence of inflammation which may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer and lupus.
  • TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)
    • This test detects several thyroid gland disorders which may cause weight gain, depression, forgetfulness, fatigue, vision problems, enlarged thyroid glands, and other health problems.
  • Vitamin D
    • In recent years, Vitamin D has been recognized as a pro-hormone that has multiple roles in maintaining optimal health.  This screening reflects Vitamin D produced cutaneously and that obtained from food and supplements.  Deficiency can be associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and hypertension.
